Welcome to the University of Avignon!
We are pleased to welcome several hundred international students every year, coming from all over the world to study in our beautiful university. We do our best to help them settle in and adapt well.
> At the beginning of the academic year, the CROUS (social services for students) runs a one-stop service, called "guichet unique", in collaboration with the registration office (Service des Etudes et de la Scolarité) and the International Office (SRI) of the University, and with the support of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Regional Council. The service provides help with residence permit applications, accommodation search, housing benefit applications, work permits etc., as well as practical information. It is open every year from September to October.
> An agreement has been signed with the Préfecture de Vaucluse, in order to facilitate the processing of residence permit applications. General information about your arrival in France can be found on the web site of the OFII (Office Français de l'Immigration et de l'Intégration).
> Free welcome programme : The International Office (SRI) organises a welcome programme at the beginning of each semester, before the start of courses, for all the international students who have just arrived in Avignon (exchange and non-exchange, as well as PhD students doing research periods). The next welcome programme will take place from January 30th to February 10th, 2012. It is supported by the ministry of higher education and research. Participation is free, you just have to send the registration form via email to SRI. A range of activities are offered (French language course, information sessions, discovery of the campus, treasure hunt, welcome buffet, visit of the "Conseil Général" offered by the Vaucluse Council etc.).
> Free pick-up service at the railway station: the CROUS offers an individual pick-up service at the railway stations of Avignon ("gare centre" or "gare TGV") for newly-arrived international students. This service will be offered in September 2012 again.
> Free specific courses in French as a Foreign Language or in French for Academic Purposes are organized by the CUEFA for exchange or non-exchange international students, as well as for PhD students.
> More information can be found in our "Study in France at the University of Avignon" brochure.
